ART OPENING: Through Others’ Eyes
This inspirational exhibition brings together a selection of photographic works created by Israeli Arab and Jewish youth and women, and their teachers, Rauf Abu Fani and Tamar Shalit Avni. Through the project, the camera became a tool to bring together the two populations and open up outlets for self and group expression and mutual understanding. The photographs, accompanied by narratives about the artists’ experiences, reflect emotions found in daily life in the participants’ communities, their homes, and with one another. Curated and developed by Etti Amram, Director of the Art Center at Givat Haviva, and Rachel Banai, professional photographer and workshop instructor at the Puffin Cultural Forum. Etti Amram and members of the youth group will be on hand to discuss the project and its impact on their lives.
Free and open to the public.
Exhibition is on display through September 4.
Gallery hours are generally M-F, 1-5 pm. or by prior arrangement.

JAZZ: The Tim Horner/Ron Horton Little Big Band
The Music of Andrew Hill
For nearly half a century, composer/pianist/ensemble leader Andrew Hill has garnered international jazz renown for his original music and recordings. Talented trumpeter Ron Horton, an integral part of New York's jazz scene since 1982, a member of Hill’s sextet from 1998-2003, and an exemplary arranger/composer, has arranged a large body of Hill’s work performed by, among others, the Julliard Concert Jazz Ensemble. Tim & Ron’s “little big band,” comprised of Ted Nash, Scott Robinson and Marc Mommas (saxophones); Clark Gayton, Ron Horton and Nate Eklund (brass), Frank Kimbrough (piano), Mark Sherman (vibes), Martin Wind (bass), and Tom Horner (drums) treats Puffin’s audience to the music of Hill, arranged by Horton and performed by the best talent New York & Teaneck has to offer.
