Prospective Applicants

Dear Applicant,

Thank you for your interest in the grant award program of the Puffin Foundation. The 2024 grant cycle is now closed. Please visit our website again in September for updates on our 2025 grant cycle.

In 2024 will be accepting new proposals in fine arts, photography, music, and projects in any artistic genre focused on environmental activism for our Annual Artist Grant Program. Applications in other disciplines will not be considered. Please note that the primary focus of your proposal must be one of these genres. For example, please do not apply for a music grant if the music is simply an accompanying score for a video or dance project. Fine arts, photography, music, or the environment must be the focus of your project. We strongly encourage you to read through the FAQ section of the website for additional information about eligibility, our funding priorities, etc.

Puffin has transitioned to a new partially on-line application process via a secure on-line portal. Please review our FAQ page for more details and deadlines. No requests submitted by email or by phone will be fulfilled; they must be submitted by mail. After we receive your form/information, we’ll establish an on-line account for you and send an email with our full application instructions.

The Puffin Foundation requests that previous grantees allow a one-year hiatus prior to reapplication, meaning that if you received an award last year, you are not eligible to apply again this year. If your proposal was not awarded a grant, you may try again in a subsequent year. This allows our grants to be available to a wider number of applicants. Applicants may only submit one proposal per year. Requests for the same project may not be made by multiple applicants.

Grants from the The Puffin Foundation can only be awarded to US residents with a social security number, or to US based non-profits. U.S. citizens who reside in or whose projects encompass work in other countries are eligible to apply.

We are not able to provide status reports about submitted applications, so PLEASE do not call or email seeking such information. Applicants will be notified via email on an ongoing basis about the decision on their application from 1/5/24 through 7/31/24.

The Puffin Foundation does not have the means to fund large projects with budgets over $250,000, grants for travel, education, or the writing or publishing of books. Average grants are approximately $1,250. The maximum grant size is $2,500. Please note that organizations with an annual budget of more than $250,000 are not eligible for funding.

We thank you again for your interest.

Respectfully,

Gladys Miller-Rosenstein, Executive Director
