Aliza Augustine-Photographic Constructions
The Monmouth Museum Show Aliza Augustine-Photographic Constructions included two series of photographs. The first entitled Playing Grown Up are narratives that draw on personal history and memory using miniature dolls and the fairy tale illustrations that she loved as a child. The second also using doll narratives is entitled Is It Safe and deals with the experience of being the child of a Holocaust survivor. The backdrops in this series are photos of family members who survived or were murdered in the Holocaust.
The photos are printed on a glossy polyester based flex, an emulsion based photographic process that is similar to conventional photo printing. After printing, the photos are sealed between an archival board and Plexiglas and ready to hang.
A graduate of the Rhode Island School of Design, she has had solo and multiple group shows at museums and galleries In New York City and around the Us, receiving honors for her work.
