Mary DeWitt: Women Lifers training Canine Partners for Life

Since 1989, I have painted the portraits of a select group of women serving life-sentences without parole at State Correctional Institutions in Pennsylvania. Since 2002, several of the women began training puppies for the disabled in the program Canine Partners for Life. I record them describing their experience in prison, with their puppies and during their daily routines. The women I am documenting have developed into remarkable leaders doing great work. They deserve to be pardoned.
