Shakespeare(ISH) (2014)

In this hyper-fun, hyper-family-friendly performance, Rogue Artists Ensemble’s Shakespeare(ish) (formerly titled HYPERBOLE: bard) takes Shakespeare’s best characters, poetry and plot devices and shuffles them up, twists them around, and shakes them down. Remixing Shakespeare with intricate mask work, original puppets and live music, the Rogues dig down to the heart of the Bard, sharing the joys, the sorrows and the non-stop action that everyone, from kids to Shakespeare aficionados, loves about the greatest playwright of all time.

Rogue Artists Ensemble develops work in Los Angeles for both adult audiences as well as projects that are suitable for all ages. Audiences who attend a typical Rogue production are many times new to live theater. We are excited for having provided many new audiences an opportunity to experience theater, especially when our educational outreach programming is taken into account. Previous studies on the demographics of Rogue audiences have shown a fairly even split in age groups as well as great economic diversity. Looking forward we are excited to expand our touring programming building on recent performances in Atlanta at the Center for Puppetry Arts and Seattle at the Regional Puppetry Festival. We are committed to developing work in Los Angeles with the intent to tour nationally and internationally.
