A Call to Action: Transforming How We Understand the Legacies of Chattel Slavery and the Holocaust.

Our view of history is often shaped in our youth. This Puffin-supported panel for local high school students was presented cooperatively by the Enslaved African American Memorial Committee and the Northern NJ Holocaust Memorial and Education Committee – both located in our hometown of Teaneck.  African Americans and Jews have been subject to unthinkable acts of violence and oppression. Events like this one can help students understand the bonds both groups share, not just in historical terms, but in countering today’s extremism and hate groups, and in the pursuit of justice and human rights for all.
